Stratasys Ltd. just introduced the industrial scale Objet 1000 Plus 3D Production System, and it boasts features like an extra large print size and accelerated speeds for manufacturing applications in aerospace, automotive, medical device, and consumer products spaces.

Capable of mixing materials and part sizes while at ultra fine precision, the Objet 1000 Plus has a large build envelope of 1000 x 800 x 500 mm or 39 x 31 x 19 inches. It also includes a new, optimized print block movement which boosts print speeds up to 40 percent over its predecessor.

This latest offering from Stratsys can utilize rubber-like materials, Digital ABS, various Shore A levels and can use up to14 material properties within a single part.

The device can use more than 100 Stratasys materials including the polypropylene-like Endur and it can produce tough parts with smooth surface finishes in high-speed mode while taking advantage of these new Endur Digital Materials. Endur materials combine two different resins in a single material to result in a wider range of material properties.

“The range of materials is quite extensive. From rubber-like materials to Digital ABS to various Shore A levels, up to 14 material properties are possible on a single part. And many parts can be produced with varying properties in a single run,” says Stratasys Product Marketing Director Ron Ellenbogen.

According to Ellenbogen, the Objet 1000 Plus workflow is identical to the company’s smaller PolyJet 3D printing systems, and it’s designed to allow for long periods of unattended operation.

“Today’s designers and engineers at manufacturing companies and service bureaus need an additive manufacturing system that can take on all challenges – large and small. We believe that’s the big advantage of the Objet1000 Plus Production System. It is the first of its kind to combine large print sizes, multiple materials, accelerated print speeds, super fine resolution and a simplified workflow,” said Ellenbogen. “If you need to create industrial, 1:1 scale prototypes, large ergonomic production tools or low volumes of small parts – all with the superior surface finish and fine details engineers expect from Stratasys 3D printing – the Objet1000 Plus is the best choice.”

Stratasys also announced the release of the Xtend 500 Fortus Plus material canister system.  Designed for reliable – and unattended – high-volume use, each Xtend 500 box contains 500 cubic inches of FDM thermoplastic material. That means five times the output of their standard canisters, and when two material boxes are loaded into a Fortus 3D Production System, users can expect up to 400 hours of unattended run time. The system also allows for the creation of up to 1,000 cubic inches of material use.

“For our customers, and 3D printing in general, developing a larger volume package is a huge step in navigating away from day-to-day 3D printer planning and operations. More time can now be spent on designing parts rather than wondering if the 3D printer is going to run out of material over the weekend,” says Product Manager for Stratasys, Brendan Dillon.

Stratasys says this latest material system is aimed at manufacturers with prototyping needs and service bureaus producing large parts to help them cut back on the number of material changeovers.

The Xtend 500 is available in ABS-M30 (ivory and black) and PC, as well as their respective support materials for the Fortus 450mc 3D Production System.

The Xtend 500 also works with Fortus 360mc, 400mc and 900mc 3D Production Systems via a Fortus Plus system upgrade. Could your company use the new Stratasys Objet 1000 Plus printer? Let us know in the Objet 1000 Plus and XTend 500 Fortus Plus forum thread on 3DPB.com.
