When the print service sets their price in terms of weight for per ounce or gram, the expected payment will appear. This is based on a test model with a fixed size and weight. Not set in stone but offered as a suggestion, the price can still be increased or decreased depending on preference.
“We believe that this feature will help print services on Treatstock to better understand their pricing strategy and set a competitive price for their work,” states the team, regarding their newest feature.
As for certification, earlier in the year Treatstock also created a rating system. This works as a ‘stamp of approval for quality,’ and means that print services can directly download .stl files and then go forward with printing out orders for eager customers.
“On the one hand, our certification system helps us to monitor the quality of prints, and on the other, it guarantees that all 3D printable files will remain in trustworthy hands,” says Treatstock. “Our statistics show that since introducing this feature, print services with the ‘quality label’ received the majority of the orders.”
“Only one out of ten orders were received by print services that have yet to obtain the certification. So, when you join our 3D printing network, be sure to go through this simple procedure and gain certification for your printers.”
There are two types of certification available:
- Common: this type of certificate shows that the printer service produces models from an average to high standard.
- Professional: this certification indicates that the service provider is able to 3D print complex models with small details, and at a high quality.
“Many of our print services have yet to certify their printers, and we believe this could be due to the fact that they are hesitant to provide their personal information on the website,” says Treatstock. “These are the requirements of the United States Government and therefore we cannot ignore them.”
