Sigma Labs, a quality assurance software company based in New Mexico, is expanding to Europe with a new sales and support team overseas for the first time. In addition, the company has hired Markus Meidenstein as its new Business Development Manager, Europe. Meidenstein will be based near Munich, Germany and will lead Sigma Labs’ European Customer Sales and Marketing functions. He will also focus on new opportunity lead generation and European marketing and trade show activities.

Meidenstein has more than 15 years’ experience in professional sales, particularly key account management, project sales and business development, and his background includes experience in software business development and additive manufacturing. Prior to joining Sigma Labs, he worked for Materialise and and AEGIS Software.

“On behalf of our entire Sigma Labs organization, I wish to welcome Markus to this newly created position and on becoming the first member of Sigma Labs’ European team,” said John Rice, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Labs. “Europe is critical to the growth of additive manufacturing, to Sigma Labs and the adoption of our PrintRite3D IPQA®-based technology. Sigma Labs is proud to provide local support for the growing market in Europe and we are excited to have Markus leading our European efforts.”

The European expansion is thanks to increased European adoption of Sigma Labs’ PrintRite3D software. In the upcoming weeks, the company will be adding a technical Applications Engineering support team to the European operations as well. The European team will work closely with customers and partners to support the increased adoption of PrintRite3D IPQA technology to major multi-machine production users of metal additive manufacturing as Sigma Labs continues to pursue growth opportunities.

Back in the United States, Sigma Labs has just been granted a patent for its technology. The patent, entitled “Method and System for Monitoring Additive Manufacturing Processes,” provides protection for methods of assuring part quality using real time data from multiple sensor types. It allows for serial production applications through real time tracking and reporting of process consistency and part repeatability.

“Our PrintRite3D technology can be used in many AM applications and helps our customers to increase their product time to market (TTM) through a better understanding of their process variance and means by which to control it,” said Mark Cola, Co-Founder, President and Chief Technology Officer of Sigma Labs. “Looking to the future, PrintRite3D will allow our customers to achieve product yield improvements during serial production through use of our proprietary software algorithms.”

Sigma Labs has several additional patents pending related to its PrintRite3D technology. This recently granted patent is for the first application of 18 submitted over the past five years in the general domain of in process quality assurance.
