Threeding, the 3D printing marketplace and community, was founded in 2013 by a group of students from the Bulgarian National Academy of Art. Led by Tzveta-Maria Partaleva and Stan Partalev, Threeding says they’re the only 3D printing marketplace to offer 3D printable models of historical artifacts.

Now Threeding say they’ve teamed up with 3D printing service bureau Sculpteo to offer their catalog of physical models. While Threeding says the models will be downloadable, they’ll also be 3D print-ready for order through Sculpteo.

“With this move we make 3D printing available for a larger customer base, which did not have access to our products before. Thereby we increase the market demand for our products and broaden our scope of business.” says Partalev of the deal. “Sculpteo is a perfect partner for us, knowledgeable and experienced in the printing process so that we can ensure the highest quality for our customers.”

The cooperative deal means thousands of models available at Threeding.com can be ordered as printed copies and shipped world-wide by Sculpteo from their facilities in the US and France.

Sculpteo and Threeding say customers can choose between 6 materials and 40 different colors. A few options among the broad range of offerings include a bracelet made of sterling silver, a ceramic coffee mug, or a multicolor dinosaur.

Sculpteo offers on-demand 3D printing of individual products and short-run manufacturing services, and the company offers 45 materials, colors, a variety of finishes and file analysis and repair for models. Sculpteo was founded in 2009 by Éric Carreel and Clément Moreau.

Both Sculpteo and Threeding say they expect the deal to provide useful synergies — they add that the agreement is aimed at helping the 3D printing industry to grow by reducing barriers for customers who want 3D printed products.

“People need to get in touch with 3D printed objects, they need to feel and see them in order to find out how useful this technology is,” says Arthur Cassaignau, Business Developer at Sculpteo. “Together with Threeding, we are making a step to develop the community and the knowledge about 3D printing.”

Threeding.com will be a merchant of record for the deliveries through this agreement, and designers with concerns about their copyrights will have the option to restrict download and restrict their creations “for physical delivery” only.

In addition, Threeding says they’ve also added the ability of customers to pay via bank transfers for orders above $100, Paypal Express Checkout, and a streamlined commerce interface.
